A Distinct Identity
Slide 1: Introduction
Hello everyone, my name is Derrick and I'm here today representing America Builds Community Development, a non-profit charity focusing on providing low-income housing for homeless individuals and families. Our mission is to partner with government organizations to acquire property that can be used for affordable, long-term housing for homeless individuals.
Slide 2: The Homelessness Crisis
The homelessness crisis in our community is a complex issue with many contributing factors such as job loss, lack of affordable housing, addiction and mental health issues, and domestic abuse. According to the latest data, there are over 10,000 homeless individuals living on the streets in our community, and this number is only expected to rise in the upcoming years if we don't take action.
Slide 3: The Housing Trust Solution
One way to address homelessness is through the use of a housing trust model. America Builds Community Development will work with government organizations to acquire property that will be used for low-income housing for homeless individuals. The housing trust model consists of acquiring properties at below-market prices, securing government funding for development and maintenance, and offering affordable rent rates to tenants.
Slide 4: Government Partnership
To establish this partnership with government organizations, we will work closely with federal, state, and local authorities to identify available properties and secure funding sources for development and construction. We plan to apply for grants and participate in public-private partnerships to acquire property and develop housing units suitable for homelessness-resilient households.
Slide 5: Funding and Sustainability
America Builds Community Development will generate income through rent and other sources like donations, grants, and private funding to support the development and maintenance of housing units. We will implement energy-efficient and cost-effective programs for tenants to minimize the cost of operation and generate ongoing revenue streams.
Slide 6: Community Engagement
Community engagement is essential for creating sustainable and vibrant housing for homeless individuals. By partnering with local NGOs, America Builds Community Development plans to provide support services for tenants such as mental health and wellness, job training, and financial skills development. We will also work with local leaders to promote sustainable practices like urban gardening and eco-friendly design.
Slide 7: Conclusion
We believe that America Builds Community Development is an effective solution to address homelessness in our community. This partnership with government organizations helps to secure resources, provide funding, and offer valuable community connections to support long-term housing for homeless individuals. Our mission goes beyond providing shelter, but also to breath new life into our community with sustainable design, community building and a focus on the inherent goodwill of local residents. We welcome any opportunity to join forces with like-minded individuals or organizations dedicated to ending homelessness.
